Tooth Resorption

There are two main types of resorptions that may happen to a tooth: internal and external. Cone Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT) is extremely beneficial in the diagnosis and decision to treat resorption, as it allows us to see the true location and extent before any treatment is done.

Pulpal Regeneration

Pulpal regeneration is part of regenerative endodontics that uses the concept of tissue engineering to treat underdeveloped roots and surrounding tissue in young patients where the tooth roots are still forming.  Using tissue engineering and stem cells, endodontists treat the permanent necrotic tooth, restoring the tooth’s growth so that the root can continue to develop. The regenerated tooth will form thicker walls, making it less prone to fracture and restoring the patient’s natural tooth.

Vital Pulp Therapy

Vital Pulp Therapy techniques are means of preserving the vitality and function of the dental pulp after injury resulting from trauma, caries, or restorative procedures. These procedures include indirect or direct pulp capping, and partial or complete pulpotomy using bioceramic materials.

The primary goal of vital pulp therapy procedures is the creation of optimal conditions for pulp tissue repair and preservation. The amount of pulp tissue removed or retained is dependent on tissue viability assessments based on access for visualization to evaluate hemorrhage control and clinical tissue appearance.

Internal Bleaching

Internal Bleaching is a technique used to whiten the appearance of teeth in root canal treated teeth.

It is different from the over-the-counter solutions used to whiten teeth. Internal bleaching must be conducted by your doctor and can only be performed after successful root canal therapy. If your tooth is infected and stained, but it doesn’t require treatment with a crown, internal bleaching may be recommended along with root canal therapy and a filling to restore the tooth’s natural function and appearance.
